Last week, CNN reported that at least 8 women have been sexually harassed by Morgan Freeman over the past several years while on movie sets or during events with him. The allegations ranged from inappropriate comments to trying to lift a woman’s skirt up to see if she was wearing underwear.

Following the allegations, Freeman released a statement, “anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

The main reporter on the case, Chloe Melas, had a personal issue with Freeman that she brought up as well. An interview she did with Freeman, Michael Caine, and another co-star during the movies promotional run. Melas claims that during the interview, at the time she was 6 months pregnant, Freeman looked her up and down, making the comment, “boy, do I wish I was there.”

Freeman’s lawyers have sent a long letter to CNN, calling the overall story of his alleged sexual harassment of women “the product of malicious intent, falsehoods, slight-of-hand, an absence of editorial  control, and journalistic malpractice.” Adding that Melas’ version of her specific story was false. Freeman was simply commenting on what Michael Caine was speaking on.

According to TMZ, the letter states, “One cannot know if [Melas’ version of events] was the product of something as innocuous as Ms. Melas having misheard what Mr. Freeman said, her runaway self-centeredness, or her search for a sexual harassment perpetrator to ‘expose’ so that she could grab attention and advance her career.”

The letter even says that 2 of the alleged victims have said that CNN misreported what they said. Freeman is looking for an apology and retraction.
