BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ Opens Up About Her “Disgustingly Vulnerable” New Song Inspired by Online Hate

In a new interview with Paper Magazine, BLACKPINK singer ROSÉ discussed the inspiration behind the songs on her emotional debut solo album, Rosie. The K-pop superstar admits that she has a nasty habit of doom-scrolling through social media late at night, which fills her with “bad comments that will get into my head.” Rather than let this online criticism affect her creativity and force her into silence, ROSÉ let it inspire her to rise above the hate and turn that fragility into a creative strength that fills her new album. “I realized how vulnerable and addicted I was to this [online] world and that craving for feeling like I wanted to be loved and understood,” she shared. “It’s so disgustingly vulnerable and honest that people learn that I am a person that goes through these emotions, and I hated that about myself.” Rosie is set to be released on December 6 via The Black Label and Atlantic Records. Kylie Minogue Reflects Back On The “Freedom” Of The ’90s

Kylie Minogue’s new album, Tension II, owes a lot of its pulsating spirit to the dance club culture of the 1990s. So, it’s no surprise that the “Padam Padam” hitmaker has such fondness for that decade and the carefree good times she associates with the era. In a new interview with The Times, the Grammy-winning Australian singer wistfully looks back at that time in her life and how much it still means to her. “I miss almost everything about the 1990s,” Minogue said. “There were no phones, dance music was going nuts and I was in it and among it, going to the clubs, going to fashion shows, pounding the pavement.” Minogue acknowledges the negative effects of constantly being tethered to your mobile device as you’re consumed by social media. “I wasn’t wasting time scrolling on socials or dealing with, like, adulting,” she says. “So there’s a lot I miss. Overall just freedom.” (Billboard)

It’s technically little Ari’s name,” the Grammy-winning singer responded. “It just feels like this experience was such a homecoming for me. I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways, through what I learned from Glinda and Elphaba.” Grande went on to reflect about her long history with the stage production of Wicked, and the impact the musical made on her as a young girl. “That was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old, and it felt like a really lovely way of honoring her,” Grande shared. “It’s a love note to her. It felt really full circle and something I wanted to do.” (Billboard)

Mariah Carey Voices Frustration That Her Lawyer Got Into The Rock Hall Of Fame Before Her

Maria Carey was finally nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time this past year, even though the 5-time Grammy winner has been eligible for nearly a decade. Carey, whose 19 Billboard No. 1 hits trails only the Beatles’ 20 chart-toppers, spoke out about being snubbed by the Rock Hall in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times. “My thoughts are: I didn’t get in,” Carey said. “Everybody was calling me going, ‘I think you’re getting in!’ and so I was excited about it. Ed Sheeran Wins Appeals Court Ruling In Marvin Gaye Copyright Case

On Friday (November 1), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled that Ed Sheeran’s No. 2 hit, “Thinking Out Loud,” did not infringe on the copyright of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.” The court ruling found that the songs share only “fundamental musical building blocks,” while stating that “overprotecting such basic elements would threaten to stifle creativity and undermine the purpose of copyright law.” The case was originally filed by Structured Asset Sales, a company that owns a small stake in Gaye’s song, who argued that Sheeran’s song copied both the chord progression and rhythm used in “Let’s Get It On.” This new ruling comes a year after Sheeran was found not liable in a similar copyright infringement lawsuit by Ed Townsend’s estate, who co-wrote “Let’s Get It On.” Sheeran said at the time he was “unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this are allowed to go to court at all. It’s simply wrong.” (Rolling Stone)
