Kawhi Leonard may try to grab another ring next year with his new championship team.
According to Chris Haynes, the 2019 NBA Finals MVP will decline his 2019-20 player option worth $21.3 million to become an unrestricted free agent. Sources tell Haynes that Leonard is “seriously considering” re-signing with the Raptors.
The Raptors are the only team who can offer Leonard the max contract of 5 years and $190 million, and those terms may be looking good to him.
Sources say returning to Cali is a good looking option for the MVP but the Raptors have newly gained trust from Leonard after winning the franchise its first ring. The negotiating period begins on June 30th.
During one season with the Raptors, Leonard had career highs in points (26.6) and rebounds (7.3).
