Sephora has closed all of its across the country today so their staff can undergo diversity training.
This was all triggered by singer SZA tweeting out back in April that while shopping in Sephora for her Fenty Beauty products, security called on her to make sure she wasn’t stealing.
A month later, it was announced that all 16,000 of the stores would close for employees to take part in a workshop to help them understand the company’s values.
This happened back in 2018 with Starbucks after the cops were called on two black men who were racially profiled as they waited for another friend to arrive.
Hi, SZA. We’re sorry to hear about your experience at our Calabasas store and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We want to let you know we take complaints like this very seriously and are actively working with our teams to address the situation immediately.
