Starting on Tuesday, September 4th, no cell phones will be allowed in criminal court in Pitt County. Judge Marvin Blount has ordered the new rule and it will apply to all “lawyers, parties, witnesses, support staff and visitors.”
According to the order, any cell phone that is seen or heard will be confiscated by the court. Only Pitt County sheriff’s deputies working courtroom security will be allowed to have their phones.
