A walmart store in Evansville, Indiana has issued an apology for a "Back to School" banner that hung over a gun display reading, “Own the school year like a hero.” The banner was taken down after customers were disturbed. The situation on guns in the U.S. is very sensitive.
As to why the display was even put up is still a question that a Walmart rep says will be investigated.
“We are investigating this situation and deeply regret that this image has been circulated as it doesn’t represent our company values,” Walmart tweeted upon learning of the photo. They tweeted to another Twitter user that “This REALLY isn’t acceptable,” and that “The sign’s gone and we’re looking into how this could have happened. What’s seen in this photograph would never be acceptable in our stores,” he said. “We regret this situation and are looking into how it could have happened.”
