Colin Kaepernick has not been signed to a football team as we thought he would be. Fans and athletes are speaking out against this saying that Colin is being blackballed because of what he did last year: taking a knee during the National Anthem before games. Fans and athletes feel that the NFL is making an example of Colin to show others not to do the same.
Fans have started a petition threatening to boycott the NFL this season if Colin doesnt end up signing to a team. Colin opted out of his contract for the 49ers on March 1st, and has only had one official meeting since then. While at lest 7 QBs have been sign in that time.
Part of the petition reads:
"We understand the NFL is very important to you. We also understand the purpose of Colin Kaepernick's protest is FAR more important than any games you will ever watch. Simply put, if things stay the same for the way America -- where 'all men are created equal' -- treats people of color, then your loved ones, friends, and children will eventually be affected as well."
The petition has been going around for the past 2 weeks and has already gotten 130,000 signatures. That means 130,000 people have promised to not watch any games or buy any merchandise”
A protest will also take place August 23rd on NYC outside of the NFL Headquarters.
