R. Kelly Accused of Controlling Women in An “Abusive Cult”
It looks like R. Kelly is back in the public eye as a danger to women. The newest accusation of the 50-year-old R&B singer comes after the mother of a young woman says her daughter was in a controlling relationship with Kelly. The mother tells BuzzFeed that her daughter was in a "brainwashing" environment being around Kelly. The mother tells the story of how her 19-year-old daughter was invited to go backstage during a 2015 show. Kelly was supposably helping the teen with her music. Over the past 2 years following the concert, the mother claims she has only heard from her daughter through text here and there. The mother continues to say how she was actively fighting to bring her daughter home from the destructive environment she was in.
"[She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible," one woman, identified only as "J," said of her daughter's alleged relationship with Kelly. "I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she's in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don't know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. They can reprogram her. But I wish I could have stopped it from happening."
Other in Kelly's camp says that he does control a number of women that he has living in Atlanta and Chicago. Word is that he controls everything from their diet and sexual encounters, and if rules are broken the women could face physical and verbal punishment. "R. Kelly is the sweetest person you will ever want to meet," Asante McGee, one of the former inner circle members, said. "But Robert is the devil."
Back in 2008, Kelly was acquitted of 14 counts of child porn.
